Versions, history and removed entries

On this page

Versions

A version is the whole entry as it was saved: title, text, question variants, branches and services. A new version appears when an entry is written, changed, removed or brought back. Saving with nothing changed makes no version. Old versions are not overwritten.

History

What happened to it on an entry shows the versions, newest first. Each line says what happened (Written, Changed, Removed, Brought back), who, when and the version number.

  • When the writer and the approver are different people, the line says "{writer}, approved by {approver}".
  • A version that came from a suggestion says "Suggested by {writer}, approved by {approver}", or "changed and approved" when the approver edited it first.
  • A version the assistant wrote at a person's request says "{writer}, via the assistant". The person is named as the writer: the assistant wrote on their behalf, and their "Allow" was the approval.
  • Someone who has left the team appears as "someone who left the team".

Over MCP the history is talemo_get_knowledge_history.

Two people editing

An edit starts from a version. If someone saves the entry first, the second save is refused with "Someone saved this while you were editing". The text the person typed is still on the screen: they look at what the entry says now and save again.

Removing and bringing back

Remove takes an entry out of use: the online admin stops telling it to clients. The entry is not deleted. It appears under Removed, and Bring back returns it at any time. Removing and bringing back are versions too. A removed entry cannot be edited until it is brought back.

The assistant changes entries

A person can ask the assistant to write, change, remove or bring back an entry. The assistant always asks first, in both of its modes, because clients get answers from the knowledge. The card shows Now and Will be. If the entry was changed by someone else while the question waited, the change is not made and the assistant says so. See Approvals in Waiting for you.

Programs

A program connected over MCP cannot change, remove or bring back an entry. It suggests, and a person decides (see Knowledge suggestions).
