Arriving from the landing page, and the cookie choice
A person reaches Talemo's sign-up from the landing page at talemo.app, from a link that Talemo's own assistant sends in an Instagram conversation (see Sign-up link from a conversation), or from an email that leads back to the payment. All of them open the same arrival page, Opening Talemo, which says that the next step is to sign up with an email and a password, with Google or with Apple, and has the button Continue. After signing up, the person goes to creating a business.
The banner
On the arrival page and on the sign-in pages Talemo asks about cookies. The text of the banner says that Talemo would like to know which ads bring people to it, and that with the person's consent it:
- uses Meta and Google cookies;
- remembers which conversation the person came from;
- tells Meta and Google when the person signs up or tops up.
It adds that everything works the same without consent, and links to the Privacy Policy. The two buttons, Allow and Don't allow, look the same.
Where the banner asks first
In some places the law asks for the choice before anything is set, and there the banner appears first: no cookie of Meta or Google is set and nothing is remembered until the person presses Allow. A person who presses Continue there without choosing does not give the consent, and Talemo does not remember which conversation they came from. This covers the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and some other countries, and any visitor whose country Talemo cannot tell.
Elsewhere a line above the footer says that Talemo uses Meta and Google cookies to see which ads bring people, with Details and Opt out. It does not wait for an answer, and Opt out stops it. After an opt-out the line says so and offers Allow again. The Cookies link in the footer opens the banner again.
Remembering the choice
The choice, Allow and Don't allow alike, is remembered for 180 days, and repeating the same choice does not extend the time. The landing page and the app share it, so a person who allowed cookies on the landing page is not asked again on the arrival page. When the text of the banner changes, a given consent is asked for again, and a refusal still stands until the 180 days end. Opting out removes what was remembered from the visit.
After signing up
When the person signs in, the remembered visit is attached to the account. If the person named their industry in the conversation, the step What you do of creating a business already has it, marked from the chat in Instagram. Everything else, including the whole product, works the same without the consent.
