# A laser hair removal salon

The situation: a salon with three masters, two cabinets and one laser device. Two
masters are trained for the laser and the third only does consultations. A client
wants laser on the legs, and the booking must hold a trained master, a free cabinet
and the device for the whole procedure.

## 1. Roles

The business has the industry Beauty, so the roles read master, place and device
(see [Industry words and defaults](../kits/industry-words-and-defaults.md)). A
resource is whatever time is booked on, and each one belongs to one branch (see
[Resources](../booking/resources.md)). In the section **Masters, places and
devices** the owner adds:

- three resources with the resource role **Master**, each linked through **Who from
the team** if the master has a login. A master here is a bookable person; a
  rights role named Master is another thing;
- two resources with the role **Place**, "Cabinet 1" and "Cabinet 2";
- one resource with the role **Device**, "Laser".

## 2. The service says what it takes

In the section **Services and prices** the service "Laser, legs" takes 45 minutes,
costs $80 and in **What it needs** has master, place and device (see
[Services and prices](../booking/services-and-prices.md)). A service takes every
role it names at once: if the cabinet or the device is not free, the time is not
offered. `talemo_create_service` takes the same roles in its list `needs`. The
cleanup after the visit is not part of 45 minutes, the booking rules add it.

## 3. Who does what

On the card of a resource, **Services**, or in **Services and prices**,
**Who does it** (see [Who does what](../booking/who-does-what.md)):

- both cabinets and the laser are marked at once, because places and devices do
every service of their role. If only Cabinet 2 has the right ventilation, the
mark of Cabinet 1 is taken off.
- the masters are marked by hand. The two trained masters are marked for "Laser,
legs", and the third is not, so she is never offered for it.

Several services in one visit need a master marked for all of them. If none is, the
finder says **No master has all these services marked together** and does not look for time.

## 4. Schedules

Every resource has its own schedule, and the visit goes only into time that is open
for all three at once (see [Schedule of a resource](../booking/resource-schedule.md)).
The device needs a schedule too: without one the finder answers **No schedule for
these days**. Time that the device is not available, such as servicing, is put on
its schedule as busy time with a **Note**. A change that would leave a booked visit
outside open time is refused with the number of such visits, so they are moved or
cancelled first.

## 5. Cleanup

In **Settings → Booking rules** cleanup is set for each role (see
[Booking rules](../booking/booking-rules.md)). Beauty starts with 10 minutes for
the master. The owner can add, for example, 10 minutes for the cabinet and 5 for the
device. The cleanup comes after the work and is held for that resource only, so
other visits wait for it. The finder shows **Work** and the time **with cleanup**.

## 6. Finding times

A visit is booked through **Calendar → Book**, or `talemo_find_times` and then
`talemo_book_visit` (see [Finding times](../booking/finding-times.md)). For each
of the three roles a resource is offered only if it is working, free and marked for
the service. A variant names the master, the cabinet and the device that take it.
The resource of a role does not change in the middle of the visit.

## 7. When the device is busy

The laser is held by another visit, so no start is offered, even when both trained
masters and both cabinets are free. The finder answers by the reason.

- **No free time in this window**: everyone who fits is busy or not working. The
finder also offers the nearest free time after the window, if there is one
  within its reach.
- **Not working in this window**: the device has a day off or other hours in this
window, and its time is not taken.
- **No schedule for these days**: the device has no days laid out.

With a second laser device, either one is offered, and the variant names the one
that takes the visit. Two devices of different kinds are told apart with the marks
**Services** on their cards. Booking checks the chosen start again, so a start that someone
took meanwhile is refused.

## 8. Moving and cancelling

A move or a cancellation frees the master, the cabinet and the device together (see
[Moving and cancelling visits](../booking/moving-and-cancelling-visits.md)). The
device with visits ahead cannot be deactivated until they are moved or cancelled.
The online admin offers clients the same variants, and it does not see which
resources did not fit or why.
