# Built-in agents

## Two agents

- **The assistant** helps the team in the app and the web version. It acts for the
  person who writes to it and has no more rights than that person (see
  [The assistant](../assistant/staff-assistant.md)).
- **The online admin** answers clients in the business's chats by itself. It is a
  member of the business with rights of its own. The owner and the administrators
  of the whole business give them, no wider than their own.

## Template and released version

Talemo writes the agents. Each agent has a template, and each template has
versions. A version stays once it exists, and the version in force is the one
Talemo has released. Rolling back means releasing the earlier version again.
Talemo staff add and release versions in their own admin tool. The business
does not edit a template.

A business gets the released version the next time its agent starts. A run that is
already going finishes on the version it started with.

## What the business sets

For the assistant:

- how it asks permission (see [Assistant mode](../assistant/assistant-mode.md));
- which roles may give it work and see what it did;
- the monthly AI spending limit (see [Spend of a run](run-spend.md)).

For the online admin, in **What the online admin may do** and in each chat:

- the rights themselves. It answers only where it has been given them, and
  **Take the rights back** stops it answering in every channel. Chats, cards and
  visits stay as they are, and the rights can be given again at any time;
- the branches the rights work in;
- the mode of each chat: **On its own**, **Only drafts** or **Off**;
- the most it may spend in a day, set together with the rights;
- the knowledge it answers from (see
  [How the online admin uses the knowledge](../knowledge/online-admin-and-knowledge.md)).

Over MCP `talemo_get_agent_grant` shows what the online admin may do.

## What the online admin never does

The page lists it: it does not connect keys or channels and does not give rights
to anyone, and it does not see or change money, the team and roles. It also cannot
cancel a visit by itself. It can only ask the people of the business, even when the
client asks for the cancellation.

## One more difference

The assistant works for one person at a time and keeps one conversation with each.
The online admin works for the business and takes one turn at a time in each chat.
Both leave their work in runs (see [Run](run.md)).
