# Profile and sign-in

A person has one account for the web, the app and all their businesses. The
account sheet, under **Profile and sign-in**, holds the name, the email, the
password, the ways to sign in and the devices. In the app the name, the email and
the password are changed in a browser window.

## Ways to sign in

- **Google:** **Continue with Google**. Google protects the sign-in itself.
- **Apple:** **Continue with Apple**. After Apple, Talemo asks for a code from an
email, every time. If the person hid their email, the code goes to the address
Apple made for Talemo and reaches their Apple ID mail; such a sign-in opens a
new account, separate from one on their real email.
- **Email and password:** after the password, Talemo asks for a code from an
email, every time. The code lives 10 minutes, and a new one cancels the old one.

Google sign-in does not work inside the browser built into Instagram or Facebook;
there the person signs up or signs in with Apple or with email and password, or
opens the page in Safari or Chrome. After too many wrong attempts, signing in with email is paused
for a short time; **Forgot password?** sends a code to the account email, and with
it a new password is set.

## Password

At least 10 characters, and a password that appeared in leaks of other people's
data is refused. Saving a new password signs the account out on all other devices.
A person who signed up with Google or Apple can **Set** a password, and then can
sign in with the email too.

## Email, Google and Apple

The email is changed by a code sent to the new address; the old address gets a
letter about it. **Remove** next to Google or Apple takes that way to sign in away.
It can be removed only when a password is set: without a password Google or Apple
is the only way to sign in, the **Remove** links are off, and the note under them
says to set a password first. When a way is removed, the letter about it names
it.

Important steps need a fresh sign-in: changing the password or the email, removing
Google or Apple, creating an access key, deleting the account, closing a business, deleting
an organization and handing over ownership. It holds for 10 minutes.

## Where you are signed in

**Where you're signed in** lists the devices. A sign-in lasts 30 days since the
last visit. A device is signed out one by one, or all at once with **Sign out
everywhere except here**.

## Security letters

Talemo writes about a sign-in from a new device, a password set or changed, a
changed email, a removed Google or Apple sign-in and a connected program. The letters about
a new sign-in and a changed password link to the page **Wasn't it you?**, and the
letter about a changed email has **Get the address back**.

- **Protect the account** on the page **Wasn't it you?** signs out all devices,
disconnects Claude and ChatGPT, revokes the access keys of businesses and asks
for a new password with a code. It needs no sign-in, works once and lives 7
  days.
- **Get the address back** returns the account to the old address, unlinks the
new one, signs out all devices, disconnects programs and asks for a new
  password. It lives 7 days.

## When Talemo pauses sign-in

Talemo support can pause sign-in to an account. The person is signed out on all
devices and gets the letter **Sign-in paused**; their businesses keep working.
Replying to it starts the conversation, and **Sign-in open again** comes when it is
resolved.
